Review:

First off, I've been following this series since book one and cannot believe I missed book three! This is a series that definitely needs to be read in order to be able to fully enjoy it, but, having read the first two and only missing the one directly prior to this one I was still able to follow along. Sort of like your favorite soap opera, even if you miss a week of episodes, after a few minutes in you still get the gist of what's going on, but you know you missed something really good that was critical to the plot at large. All in all it was still a great read.

Shannon has lost not only both of her brothers, but her mother as well within the span of a year, leaving just herself and father behind. If that isn't enough, the mantle of being the leader of the Pleiades witches is now hers to bare. Add onto that someone is out assassinating the very Goddesses they descended from, her father, the leader of the Druids bound and sworn to protect her and the other Pleiades, wants to keep her under lock and key where he knows she's safe and sound, and the fact that they all are under the threat of death until they find Poseidon's Trident. Not much pressure there right? Her mother's final words brings her back to her old home to find help. And who better to help her than someone with ties to the very water God himself?

Merck is the Enforcer, soul bound to be the policeman of all things magic. Anyone using black magic must answer to him, and most do not live to tell about it. He knows his judgement day is coming soon, so a relationship is just plain out of the question. Until a certain blonde literally stumbles back into his life. But she brings with her more complications than he could have imagined. She's on a mission to find the Trident that she and her people have been accused of stealing. And it just so happens he recently learned that his ties to Poseidon are a lot closer than he ever knew. Coincidence? Whenever the Gods are involved, there isn't really such a thing is there?

Fans of this series will enjoy going on this roller coaster ride with Shannon and Merck as they give in to the fact that destiny is real, and sometimes it doesn't completely suck. The only thing keeping this from being a five star is everything wasn't wrapped as tight as I would have liked, which I know all too well is not an easy thing to do, and one of those things could have just been something that I missed; like why did Shannon seem to seem to have such a fear of drowning? But the biggest was Merck's parents; the big reveal of who they were didn't end up with a big reunion.

This is a great series for lovers of all things magic and deity related. While it can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading the series as a whole, in order. Each book ties into the next, so don't cheat yourself, or the author, by just grabbing a random one out of order.

Review: His Witch To Keep

His Witch to Keep by Zoe Forward (ARC Review)
Keepers of the Veil Book 2
Published November 9, 2015 by Entangled Publishing
5 Magical Bullets

"One can ignore fate for only so long, especially when chemistry is also involved."

Synopsis -

A paranormal category romance from Entangled's Covet imprint...

Wanting her was one thing. Keeping her was another...

Serenity Danssaert was already in way over her head. Not even her MI6 training or her powers as one of the seven Pleiades witches is going to save her sister. Then Alexi Jovec shows up. A secret operative working for unknown forces, he's impossibly sexy and dangerous...and the guy who bailed on Serenity after a red-hot, racy night.

So bonding to him as her destined--the One--is so very wrong.

While Alexi's need to own Serenity--body, soul, and beyond--is nearly unbearable, it's also forbidden. He's the last man who could ever be her destined. Besides, Hades's right-hand man cannot bond with a chosen Pleiades witch. He may be the one man who can protect her, but she can never be his to keep. (Goodreads)

Review -

Zoe Forward does not disappoint with this second installment of the Keepers of the Veil series. His Witch to Keep may even prove to be better than the last. She nails that critical point within a series of where information on the background is too much and not enough and got it perfectly on the nail. So much so that this book can even be enjoyed as a stand alone read, but, enjoyed so much more after having read book 1, Protecting His Witch.

Serenity has all of the problems that come with being a Pleiades witch and then some. A former undercover agent with the fate of the world on her shoulders, she also has to deal with a kidnapped sister, and a lethal killer hot on her heals who she has the hots for is nothing more than another day in her life. That is until she continues getting slapped in the face by one big reveal after another, each one more shocking and more damning than the last. The one she simply can't wrap her head around is big, tall and extremely dangerous. When all signs point to him being the one, she can't possibly believe it to be true, especially after finding out that there are other God's at play, and he's descended from one of them.

Alexi has been stalking Serenity ever since their one night stand together, and not just because he wants to boink her again. His feelings run far deeper than that. Being taught all of his life that he is not the one in his family to be allowed to settle down with any woman, his soul purpose to be Hades right hand and nothing more, he has come to terms with that. Sort of. After all, he is only stalking her to insure her well-being. At least that's the lie he keeps telling himself. That's not even his biggest problem. The next victim on his list brings things far too close to home, and the ties are tightly connected to Serenity.

A love that was not made overnight and well worth the wait, a heroine that can most certainly hold her own, and two people who respect one another and neither trying to change the other. Non stop action from one page to the next with surprises and tons of fun along the way, His Witch to Keep is definitely a must read.

Protecting His Witch Review

Protecting His Witch by Zoe Forward
Keepers of the Veil Book 1
Published October 27, 2014 by Entangled: Covet
4 Magical Stars

"Sometimes Fate can be a truly fickle bitch indeed, but she also knows what you need as opposed to what you want."

Synopsis -

A paranormal category romance from Entangled's Covet imprint...

The last thing he wanted was to fall for a witch...

Veterinarian Kat Ramsey hasn't a clue that she's a witch. Sure, she can read minds, and there's the whole "dimension-hopping" issue that she can't quite control, but Kat is determined to keep things normal. That is, until she accidentally hops into the Otherworld, and runs smack into Matthew Ryan―the seriously hot one-night stand from years ago who shoved her out of his dorm. Naked.

And there's the tiny matter of the curse she gave him.

May you never find satisfaction with another woman. Billionaire and former druid Matthew Ryan hasn't forgotten the curse, or the witch who gave it to him. Kat's unexpected return means the curse will finally be broken. Unfortunately, his libido has other ideas―like how to get her back into his bed one last time. But far more worrying is his suspicion that Kat is the seventh Pleiades witch. Because while he's turned his back on his druidic ways, he's still bound to protect the woman who made his life hell... Review -

When reading the first couple of pages of this book readers may be a little misled, believing this to be no more than a silly romance with a little magic thrown in here and there to call it a Paranormal. They will learn that they couldn't have been farther from the truth. Protecting His Witch is full of action, dimension hopping, mind bending, revelation reaching, Fate ditching, tragedy bearing and yes, a lot of romance, but not the please hand me a barf bag kind.

Kat Ramsey has spent the majority of her life wondering if she truly had magical abilities, or if she was just out of her ever loving mind. Even though she has evidence that she truly does, where, why and how are questions that plague her to no end. Orphaned at a very young age, she has no memories of her biological parents, and no other family to turn to for answers. That she knows of. So, it stands to reason that when Kat meets someone she suspects has their own bit of magic, she would jump at the chance to ask questions about who and/or what she may be. If only that person wasn't the same cheating S.O.B. that put her out of his dorm with nothing more than a sheet.

Matthew Ryan walked away from his Druid life, and has had no desire to walk back into their world under any circumstances. Not that he Matt has any time for anything other than running the "family" business that was thrust upon him after the death of his Step-Father. A job that gives him no satisfaction yet no-one in his circles seem to notice, except a beautiful woman who seems to keep popping into his life when he least expects it. A woman in which placed a curse on him rendering him unable to reach complete satisfaction with anyone other than her. After-all, that would have to be the only reason he finds himself lusting after her at every turn, and wanting her even outside of his bedroom. Surely not fate, right?

Two lovers who cross paths when neither expects it, but when they both truly need it. One trying to escape their fate, the other trying to put the puzzle of her life together. What neither were looking for was love. Whether or not they become emotionally entangled or not, the very fate of the world is depending on them at the very least, working together. If Katherine cannot come to terms with what she is, and fast, her ancestors will begin Armageddon, as promised. Now, all that needs to be done is to get her to stop shifting between dimensions, tell of her true heritage, keep assassins from killing her and stop trying to screw her brains out, not too much on Matt's plate.

Protecting His Witch is a fun, magical read. Not a lot of blood and gore, but plenty of emotion and action. Readers will be kept on their toes from beginning to end.
